Skip Hire: FAQs

If you’re looking for reliable and cheap skip hire – Maguire Skips is your number one choice. Here are some helpful advice and answers to the question which is commonly asked. Also, our team always helps you if you need specific advice about skip hire services.

Ideal for the commercial and building zones, our wait and load service allows you to dispose of large and bulky items in places where access may be difficult or where it is not possible to place a skip. Whether it is a large refurbishment project or a complete clearance, this allows you to load the waste, and we can take it away for you, there and then!

The price you pay is based on the size of the skip you hire and its contents, as well as its location and any necessary permit requirements.

We offer skips from 4 cubic yards – up to 40 cubic yards. The size of the skip you need will depend on what you want to put into your skip and what it is. For example, if the waste is heavy (such as soil or bricks, for example), the skip size will be restricted. We can offer you detailed help and information if you are unsure about the skip size you might need for your particular project.

A skip can be placed anywhere on private property, providing the driver can access this with the skip lorry. Once the skip has been placed, it must remain in this location until it is picked up again.

If your skip is placed on a public highway, such as a road or pathway, you will need to get a permit from your local council. We are happy to apply for your permit, but this can take around four working days. The cost of the permit varies, depending on your local council.

Yes, we offer a wait and load service, where a driver will assist and wait for you to load up our cage lorry, and we will take it away immediately.

When you call us, we will endeavour to deliver your skip on the same day if the order is placed before midday.

Normal skip hire is for 7 days, but this can be extended to suit your needs. If your skip is on the road, you will need to ensure that the permit covers the length of time you need the skip for.

Though we can arrange for the removal of all types of waste, skips can be used to remove non-hazardous waste, including building waste and green waste. If you wish to dispose of hazardous waste, special permits and containers are needed; please call our team for more information, and we can advise about the most efficient disposal routes for these items. Examples of these include (though are not limited to) asbestos, plasterboard, electrical items, batteries, pressurized containers, food waste, liquid and chemicals.

When the skip is full, simply give us a call, and we will collect it promptly. By law, you must not over-fill your skip and ensure it is not full past the top of the sides.

Your waste will be processed at our waste transfer stations, according to legislation, and as much as possible is recycled. We are committed to our own and our customer’s environmental responsibilities. We can give you a detailed summary of what has happened to your waste for your records.
